Q: Can I put a mixed load in the bin?
A: Yes but some items incur an extra charge, for example a mattress or a car tyre will cost extra. Place car batteries, metal or steel on top.
Q: What CAN I put in a bin?
A: Most things can go into a bin. This includes:
- General Waste – boxes, timber, plaster, carpets
- Heavy Waste – from construction and renovations such as bricks, concrete, tiles, soil
- Clean Fill – dirt, soil and sandClean bricks, concrete and roof tiles
- Green Waste – grass clippings, shrubs and trees.
Q: What CANT I put in a bin?
A: Strictly NO asbestos, food waste, hazardous waste, liquid waste (paint, oils or chemicals). No gas bottles or car tyres.
Q: How do I get rid of dangerous or hazardous items?
A: Contact your local council, it will have information on where and how you can dispose of these goods.
Q: What’s the best way to load a skip?
A: Never overload a skip as they cannot be transported because of health and safety regulations. Lay everything as flat as possible so you can put as much in as you can.
Q: What size skip do I need?
A: If you have six trailer loads of rubbish, then a six cubic metre bin is right for you and so on. Big Red Bin Hire has a range of bin hire sizes to suit your needs.
